Republican Romans

Spanish Knights battled against Moorish influence for over a century, and the infusion of both cultures can be seen in this Faction.  Knights fight traditionally, while the warriors ride throwing javelins and the levy shooting with a wide range of weapons.  This Saga faction is highly mobile faction with complex reaction abilities.  It is also excellent at utilizing fatigue.  It has a steep learning curve and more complex to play but rewarding.  This article will explain how to create a war band and utilize the battle board for the Spanish.

The Carolingian dynasty was famously ruled by Charlemagne and was the largest of the time.  This Saga faction is one of the most versatile in AoV, giving one a wide variety of troop types and weapon options.  It has tremendous shooting potential, but is also devastating in melee.  The Battle Board is unique and has a steep learning curve, but provides one with many options and combos to work with.  This article will give suggestions on creating a war band and strategies to make the war band effective.   This is fun but challenging war band to play.

Byzantine Faction

If you like shooting and playing defensively, this is the Saga faction for you. Byzantines have one of the best battle Boards for utilizing levy and the options to field them. One has the choice of bow, crossbow or spear levy and due to Battle Board abilities, all shoot tenaciously. Not to go unnoticed, but the Calvary options are excellent as well. It includes composite bow warrior and mounted Hearth guards. The Battle Board is unique and fun to play. The Age of Invasion time period is marked by the fall of the Roman Empire.  In the East, the emperor Constantine relocated to Byzantium and renamed the city Constantinople.  In the west, the failed northern advancement of the Roman forces resulted in a defensive posture of holding land with fortifications and the eventual fading of Roman presence.  This was the time period of the famous disappearance of the 9th Legion, supposedly at the hands of the Picts.  This article gives tips and tactics for playing the AoI Romans
